Critical Thinking is one of the most desired objectives of today’s teaching and learning process. Recent studies in education research indicate numerous approaches to enable students to comprehend and evaluate the subject matter successfully. To enhance critical thinking skills one of the most successful methods is the use of metaphors in the classrooms. American cognitive linguist G.P. Lakoff and his successors have written considerably about the usefulness of metaphors in the classrooms. When one looks at the pedagogies of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), he finds extensive use of metaphors in his teachings circles. This article is intended to highlight the use of metaphors in the teaching methodology of the Holy Prophet and its significance in modern classrooms. The results of the study show that an effective teacher must not only convey his subject matter effectively but also present his personal character as a role model to enhance the learning process among the students.
